About the program

The Crash Course '23 is organized by Faculty of Science, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda with generous funding from GSBTM (Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission) for PG (final year) and Research students of Gujarat.


Qualifying exams namely CSIR/UGC-NET, ICAR-NET, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, SET and GATE are very important for PG students for career in Life Sciences. Succeeding at such national level tests require extra sets of practice and focused coaching. This Crash Course of 4 weeks will provide a rigorous training of 144 lecture hours and numerous practice tests. The course is aimed at PG and Research students, aspiring for national competitive exams in Life Sciences.

Selection and confirmation





  • Selected candidates are requested to confirm the seat for Crash Course by submitting a Photo of Demand draft drawn in favor of "The Registrar, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara" of Rs. 700; Bank of Baroda, MSUniv branch.
  • Physical copy of the demand draft should be submitted to us on 11th May

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have applied to one of the qualifying exams namely CSIR/UGC-NET, ICAR-NET, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, SET or GATE from March 2023 till date. Application of the same (any one) should be uploaded in our application form.
  • Applicants must have appeared for M.Sc. semester 4 exam in Apr/May 2023 event OR must have passed the same. Latest marksheet should be uploaded in our application form. Further, M.Sc. semester 2 students are not eligible for the course.
  • Applicant should have PG in Biotechnology or allied sciences (any life science course).
  • This course have capacity of 100 students. Out of which, 40 seats are reserved for students with M.Sc. degree from The M S University of Baroda. Rest 60 seats are open for students with M.Sc. degree from any other University of Gujarat state. Students having passed M.Sc. from outside Gujarat are not eligible.
  • Eligibility of Research students of any University will be considered based on University from which they have completed their PG degree.
  • Selection to the course will be done based on an online Entrance test.

Selection process

  • Selection to the course will be done by 50% weightage of last PG exam GPA and 50% weightage of Online Entrance test.
  • Entrance test will be held on April 30 at 09:00 am. Link for the same will be communicated through your registered email ID only.
  • Syllabus for the Entrance test shall contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc. (as per PART A of CSIR NET).
  • Medium of entrance test is English.
  • Test will be of 50 marks. 25 questions of 2 marks each should be answered within 30 minutes. 0.5 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Final selection list will be displayed on our website on April 16.
  • Candidates will be then required to pay Rs 700 refundable deposit as confirmation. The deposit will be refunded only if candidate fulfills 80% attendance at course. All facilities at the crash course is funded.

Morning session

Facilities

  • Boarding (for limited outstation participants) and lodging facilities will be sponsored.
  • Study material, Course kit and other resource material will be provided.
  • 144 hours of intense lecture and practice tests throughout the course.
  • Practice tests, Group activities and problem solving approach will be exercised.
  • No TA/DA will be provided to the candidates.
  • Decision of course coordinator in all matters will be considered final.
